First, the compliments:The cards are printed on a high quality card stock, in beautiful colors, and careful detailed individual designs. I'll include a picture of them laid out in good light to try to illustrate this. I have not seen a more fantastic design which makes a new user feel welcome and comfortable. This is my second deck, but if I could do it again, it would be my first. I'll include a picture of them laid out in good light to try to illustrate this.Now on to the problems:The cards are stuck together, and not just a little bit. Each card must be *carefully* pried away from it's neighbors. Doing this will flake some of the paint on the edges, and if you are too rough or hasty the cards will get bent at the corners or dented where your nails pry them apart. I'll add a short video of me doing this to show you what I mean. Recommended: Set aside time to look at and read about each card as you do this, to familiarize yourself with the cards and make your first practice readings easier. Just be careful, they will keep trying to stick together if not shuffled thoroughly.The paint chipping fresh out of the box is concerning for some but I think will make every deck unique. Each one will wear differently and with practice the user can become intimately familiar with their personal deck.The book is cute but small and not durable enough to last long. If I used it to read a card every time I draw a card this book would fall apart fast. The upside to that is the Mystic Mondays app is super user friendly and contains all the information needed in an easily accessible catalog. I'm just gonna toss mine and use a tumbled quartz to fill the empty space in the box, and double as a purifier.Finally, the box is great and strong, and has a cute design, but it leaves the cards exposed, and so doesn't really keep them safe from stray liquids.Last Thoughts: I would get it, but you need to think about if it fits what you want. I just opened my deck and it is already damaged. Every single card has faded corners and edges. It was also easy to accidently damage the cards when trying to pull them apart.
If you're someone who resonates with an aesthetic defined abstract and intuitive vibes this is THE Tarot deck to have. I love the color scheme and general vibe of this deck. It has a quantum physics vibe mixed with pastel ice cream wrapped in the perfect dose of Rider Waite symbology. There is definitely a modern, maybe even vaguely futuristic air to this deck. The card stock is great. It's thick as far as the average Tarot card goes and has a notable density. The holographic gilding doesn't flake and is such an aesthetic. There's a gloss to the cards but it isn't crazy. There is a small degree of "stick" to them but it isn't a massive problem. In my opinion the card size is just right. For me this was the first deck I've purchased that actually speaks to me as an individual. As far as symbology goes I resonate with the balance of human representation, suit representation, color palette and subtle use of stylistic imagery. There's a distinct feeling of space, movement and paradox of limitation where it leaves room for your intuition to fill in the places where form isn't necessarily manifested. For instance, the faces of identity representation are empty. There's just enough traditional symbolism to establish a resonating frequency to the mechanism of the deck with just enough artistic expression to take your consciousness to the dark side of the Moon and back again. The Major Arcana definitely has a strong feminine representation which is different than most decks. I rarely see The Fool or The Magician depicted as feminine. The Hanged Man is changed to the The Hanged Woman. There's a definite departure from a focus on the masculine in a traditional way in this deck which offers a fresh perspective in my opinion. For the price this is actually well worth the buy. The box it comes in is very well made and aesthetically pleasing. The book is pocket sized and well made, as well as well written.
I absolutely love how this deck is illustrated. The cards all have a minimalistic style but not so much that you have a hard time distinguising a meaning intuitively. However probably wouldn't be best suited for an absolute beginner.The cards are very thick and sturdy cardboard with holographic edges. The box is also extremely sturdy. When first opening and flipping through the cards, be aware that some cards may be stuck together. I'm also noticing a lot of the holographic bits flaking off all over both my hands and the cards. So far it's not actually causing the holograph on the cards themselves to rub off. The thick cardstock makes this deck close to impossible to riffle shuffle.The book is of course very handy dandy, it has descriptions as well as keywords for all the cards both upright and reversed and also shows a picture of the card. Oh and did I mention the whole book is in color!!Overall I think this is a great deck and I'm super excited to work with it, I just wish it was easier to shuffle and that the holographic flakes weren't getting everywhere.
These cards are really nice for a novice, like myself. However, whoever does quality control sucks at their job. Some of the cards edges look like they were torn when they were cut, every single card was stuck to the next making it difficult to separate without damaging the cards, and every time I would shuffle the cards there were holographic flakes everywhere. All of this issues out of the box for the first time. Rather disappointed, but they are aesthetically pleasing and I look forward to using them.
